原詞、曲調：歸於約翰・法蘭西斯・韋德（John Francis Wade, c. 1711–1786）：十八世紀英國天主教徒、音樂家和聖樂抄寫者，後來長期居住於法國杜埃（Douai），並曾在當地的英國學院從事音樂工作。他以抄寫、整理聖樂手稿為業。1-3、6段的作者。
英譯：腓特烈・奧克利（Frederick Oakeley, 1802–1880）。奧克利原本是英格蘭教會的司祭，也是十九世紀牛津運動（Oxford Movement）的重要人物之一。他任職於倫敦 Margaret Chapel——即後來著名的 All Saints, Margaret Street——期間，推動具有濃厚大公教會色彩的禮儀。奧克利後來於1845年離開英格蘭教會，加入羅馬天主教會。
